Gray day, gray pants
It's a cold day here so I decided to go with cool colors: a pair of gray jeans, black boots and a black and white stripped shirt.
Sweater from Old Navy, jeans from Ann Taylor Loft
Well, one does still want a hint of color...
I love wearing colorful socks, its like having a fun little secret!

Ooo la la
"Look fresher, younger and more expensive... DO LESS!! Wash your hair at night, apply a bit of Bumble and Bumble texture cream and sleep on your wet hair." - De Facto Salon
The French get a lot right, and hair styling is no exception.(The all too adorable Chignon bun) They always seem to look so polished, yet effortless. My hair is naturally, well, there's no other way to describe it: FRIZZY . I don't have the luxury to just wash and go! I constantly have to blow dry and straighten it otherwise I have to tie it back. Now, don't get me wrong, I love pulled back hair, especially high buns, but I'm currently in the process of growing it out so its at a stubborn length where I can't to too much with it yet. I try the low messy bun but I can never seem to get it right, who knew a hairstyle meant to look effortless would require so much effort! My hair is very soft so it just falls when I try to pull it back. Its time for me to start investing in hair products: mousse, hairspray, styling cream, and a good comb to tease my hair with. Definitely going to give Bumble and Bumble a try to see how it works. Something has to be able to tame this wild mane of mine!!
New Year - New Shoes
Zigi Soho Veeta Sandal Flats flats from DSW
I was fortunate enough this Christmas to receive a DSW gift card from my brother, because anyone that knows me knows I love shoes! I strolled into DSW, gift card in hand (plus $25 in coupons!!!), ready to try on shoes, shoes and more shoes, but to my dismay and heartache most of the shelves were empty!! Getting ready for Spring/Summer shoes I suppose. There were still quite a few boots and lots of beautiful high heels (most so high I couldn't fathom walking in them) and a few sandals here and there. I tried on a few pairs of boots but nothing really made my heart skip a beat. I was about to call it a day when I stumbled upon a hidden pair of shoes that made me stop and say hmmm... They were nude and black with lots of sparkly jewels on the toe. I tried them on and I loved them! Unfortunately, I won't be able to wear them for a couple of months - at least not outside the house anyway as I'm a Midwestern gal and it's cold here! I recommend these babies with a pair of boyfriend jeans or black ankle pants.
My must haves for 2013

2 words: Elbow. Patches. (from Zara)
High waist trousers (from twenty8twelve)

Why I'm Here...
I'm not a "fashionista", I don't know everything about the latest trends - and I don't even always like them. I'm not beautiful, I'm not skinny and I don't have unlimited funds to spend on top labels. I am horrible at styling my hair and my make-up never seems to be 'flawless'...
I've always had a love/hate relationship with fashion. I love fashion because I do think clothes/shoes/accessories can be absolutely beautiful! And I do enjoy reading magazines, blogs, or watching shows about it all. On the latter side, I hate fashion because I never look like I want to in the clothes I wear - I see an outfit in a magazine and I try to recreate it and SURPRISE! I don't look like the model! I know I'm not the only one who has been disappointed by their body or looks; and that's why I'm writing this. I'm on a journey this year to make myself over from the inside out. I plan on dedicating this year to bettering the way I feel about myself and bettering the way I look. I'm also on a mission to find essential and unique pieces for my closet, trends as I see them happening this year and inexpensive ways to keep up with them (did I mention I'm also currently unemployed?) This is the first blog I've ever kept so I hope you'll be patient with me, I'm learning as I go. Feel free to share your thoughts and maybe even your struggles.
